Basic Tenkara
This class is designed to instill the fundamental knowledge, skill, and confidence necessary to experience Tenkara as a satisfying and enjoyable outdoor activity. Students learn the traditional approach to Tenkara including basics of rod, line, kebari (fly), nets, and essential accessories in a low pressure, compassionate teaching and learning environment. Basic rods, lines, and kebari are presented and explained with suggestions on brands, models, and where to purchase. Emphasis is placed on developing basic skill in the proper selection and use of Tenkara rods, lines, and kebari for various conditions, casting the Tenkara rod, and techniques for landing fish for catch-and-release. All Tenkara equipment is provided.
Students must provide their own transportation, food, and beverages (no alcohol, please). Sunscreen, wrap-around sunglasses, broad-brim hat, rain jacket, and other reasonable outdoor gear are recommended.
Class is limited to no more than five students per instructor. 1-2 hours (depending on number of students). $95 per hour per student. Prices subject to change.
